Kathryn Herms graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in English in 1982. Thereafter, she obtained her law degree from The University of Houston Law Center in 1985. After graduation from law school, she served as briefing attorney for the Fourth District Court of Appeals. Ms. Hermes joined the litigation firm of DeHay & Blanchard where she concentrated on insurance defense litigation including large vehicular accident cases, construction cases, bad faith insurance litigation, pharmaceutical and other product liability, and mass toxic tort litigation. From 2002-2011, Ms. Hermes participated in various nonprofit opportunities including working for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. She joined the law firm of Ekvall & Byrne, L.L.P. where she worked from 2011-2016 concentrating again in insurance defense litigation.
From 2017-2022 Ms. Hermes was Associate General Counsel at Copart, Inc., overseeing litigation, claims and risk management. She returned to Ekvall & Byrne in August 2022 where she continues practicing insurance defense litigation.

Ms. Hermes’s current and prior affiliations include: The Texas Association of Defense Counsel; and The Dallas Bar Association.
She continues her interest in serving the nonprofit community and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Cancer Support Community of North Texas and is active in the Dallas Women’s Foundation and Ursuline Academy. Ms. Hermes enjoys traveling, running, cooking, and spending time with her two daughters.
