Mark D. Johnson completed his undergraduate study at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1984 with a Bachelors degree with a major in History. While at UT, Mark was a member of the Blue Key Honor Society and was on the Deans List. He graduated with honors from Tulane University School of Law in 1988. While at Tulane, Mark served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Tulane Law Review. While on the Tulane Law Review, Mark authored "Gales v. Gold Bond Building Products: Occupationally Diseased Employees," 61 Tul. L. Rev. 1241 (1987). This article, which relates to insurance coverage issues relevant to asbestosis and other occupational diseases, was selected for republication by the National Insurance Law Review at 2 Nat'l Ins. L. Rev. 251 (1987).

Upon graduating from law school, Mark practiced commercial and insurance litigation with the Dallas firms of Gardere & Wynne, Bishop & Hummert, and Munck Carter. While at these firms, Mark handled a variety of complex litigation matters on behalf of plaintiff and defendants, with a particular emphasis on insurance coverage and bad faith litigations. Mark has represented clients in suits and arbitrations, on a first and second chair basis, in Texas, California, Colorado, Florida and Oklahoma. Mark also has successfully appealed cases to the Texas 5th District Court of Appeals and the Federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

In November, 2009, Mark joined the firm of Ekvall & Byrne, L.L.P. Mark is the Firm's principal insurance coverage attorney. In addition to a busy trial docket, Mark has counseled both insurers and insureds with respect to a multitude of coverage issues.

Mark is a member of the Texas and Dallas Bar Associations, as well as the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. Mark is licensed to practice before all Texas state courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western District Courts of Texas. Mark has also appeared before the Federal District Court of Colorado and the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
