Our Attorneys

Robert Wells graduated with honors from the University of Texas in 1998 with a double major in government and Spanish. Bob graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 2001. While at the University of Texas School of Law, Bob served as a senior editor for the Texas Review of Law and Politics. In addition, Bob participated in mock trial competitions and was a member of the Board of Advocates.

After graduating from UT Law, Bob practiced for the Law Offices of Derek R. Van Gilder in Bastrop, Texas until August 2002. While in Bastrop, Bob was engaged in a general litigation practice that included cases in both tort and contract, as well as family law and criminal law. Working with Derek Van Gilder, Bob was heavily involved in all aspects of trial work, including appellate matters.

In September 2002, Bob moved to Dallas and began practicing with Sandbote & Waggoner, P.C. While with Sandbote & Waggoner, Bob specialized in insurance defense litigation, including defense in both first-party and third-party causes of action. Bob had experience in defending both insurance carriers and independent claims handling professionals in cases involving allegations of breach of contract, breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing, the Texas Insurance Code, and the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Bob was also involved in the claims-investigation stage, taking examinations under oath and addressing coverage questions presented by carriers. At Sandbote & Waggoner, Bob tried several cases across the State of Texas, with excellent results, including three take-nothing verdicts in three cases in which the carrier had denied an insurance claim on the grounds of fraud or arson.

In the fall of 2006, Bob Wells joined Ekvall & Byrne, L.L.P. Bob continues to concentrate his practice in insurance defense, focusing on personal injury, property, and first-party defense litigation and insurance coverage.

Bob is admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, as well as the United District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas. Bob is a member of the Texas and Dallas Bar Associations. Bob is a certified mediator.
